Throwback… Wednesday? Emboss Resist

emboss resist

I’m feeling a bit under the weather this week, but I’m committed to bringing you a new post on my blog every Wednesday.  I reached back in my card archives and found one of my favorites! The technique used on this card is called Emboss Resist.

I stamped the butterflies from Stampin’ Up!’s Papillon Potpourri (retired) in the 2012-2014 Stampin’ Up! In Color Midnight Muse on white card stock. Then I colored over my stamping with a Versamarker pen, covered that with Clear Embossing Powder and used my Heat Tool to heat emboss the butterflies.  Since they are protected with embossing powder now, I sponged 2012-2014 Stampin’ Up! In Color Gumball Green over the butterflies to turn the white card stock Gumball Green.  I used a paper towel to remove the excess Gumball Green ink and let those butterflies shine through!

I finished the card up by adhering it to a card stock layer and card base.  I added some matching ribbon and punched a sentiment out.  I also added a few stamped and punched butterflies for some 3D interest.

If you couldn’t tell, I love green and blue together.  Here’s the color combo for this card:

I hope you enjoyed this card and I hope the layout, technique or color combo inspired you!
