Embossed Vellum Technique with Concord & 9th

Happy Mother's Day Embossed Vellum with Concord and 9th

This beautiful card started with a technique idea – Embossed Vellum. I knew I wanted a bold image behind the vellum to stand out. I found the perfect one in the Concord and 9th set Happy Words.

Starting with a base of soon-to-be retired Stampin’ Up! Chocolate Chip and a piece from the Kaisercraft Ooh La La paper pack, I stamped the large floral design in retired Stampin’ Up! Watermelon Wonder ink. I embossed the piece of lightweight vellum paper using my Big Shot and the retired Stampin’ Up! Brick Wall Embossing Folder. With a piece of Chocolate Chip card stock and adhesive sheet, I die cut the Happy with the Happy Card die set. I stamped Mother’s Day in Chocolate Chip ink on a piece of retired Stampin’ Up! Crisp Cantaloupe and die cut it out with the banner die from the Happy Card die set. I love this color combo. It reminds me of ice cream and summer and pretty clothes.

  1. Beautiful card! I love the color palette you use. I never knew of this technique until after reading this post. It’s really worth to check out other crafter blogs.

  2. I love Stampin Up! products. I used to go to monthly classes and making cards was my favorite part. Love the combination of colors you used. Any mom will cherish this card!

  3. Donna,
I love the idea of brick embossed on vellum. It makes a wonderful texture on your card which complements the colors so well.

  4. Holy smokes, Donna!

What a fun and great way to use up the vellum paper. Are you like me with a box *ok 27 boxes, but don’t tell my husband* of all sorts of goodies? I mean, paper stuffs of all sorts?

I love your color combos, too!

My husband rolls his eyes at me when I demand to go to the hardware store so I can collect the most recent stash of color plates. Don’t let me near a fabric store… it doesn’t get much better.

Thanks for the inspiration – I love the mixed media approach 🙂
